BOX SCORE vs MANHATTANVILLE

The men’s tennis team split their two matches in a busy day of tennis on Friday at the U.S. National Tennis in Queens.

The team played twice in one day, due to a necessary conference makeup and the concern over weather for next week. In addition, the team wanted to take advantage of free time with the college currently on spring break.

The Bearcats finished undefeated in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) regular season schedule by defeating John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the morning match by the score of 7-2.

The Bearcats won all three doubles and four of the six singles to post the victory.
Stephan Muller and Phillip Bleustein were victorious at #1 doubles with a score of 8-3. Bryan Adler defeated his opponent at #4 singles with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

In the afternoon match, which was non-conference against Manhattanville, the Bearcats suffered their first loss of the season with a score of 7-2.

The visiting Valiants won five of six singles and two of three doubles. Bleustein was the only player victorious in singles at the #3 spot with a competitive score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-4. He teamed up with
Christopher Jenkins at #2 doubles to record a tough 8-6 victory.

The men’s tennis team will finish their overall regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 26, with a rescheduled non-conference match against SUNY-Purchase. First serve at the U.S. National Tennis Center is scheduled for 6:00 pm.

The two teams were previously scheduled to play on April 16, but the match was postponed by rain.

NOTE: The CUNY Athletic Conference is expected to release the championship tournament schedule and times early next week. The quarterfinal round will begin on Saturday, April 29, with the higher seeds hosting.
