Box Score

The men’s soccer team posted their third straight shutout victory by defeating the SUNY-Maritime, 3-0, in a non-conference home match played Monday afternoon at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

With the result, the Bearcats improve to 6-4-3 overall, while the Privateers drop to 6-7-3. The Bearcats are now in the midst of a stretch of eight matches where they have compiled six wins and two draws.

Brian Wright scored the only goal of the first half at the 10:00 mark. Victor Tlepshev sent a pass across the top of the box that Wright received and quickly kicked past the goalkeeper for the 1-0 score.

During the second half,
Vincent Cruz increased the lead to 2-0 at 53:34. The Maritime goalkeeper blocked a shot, but the rebound quickly bounced to Cruz and he knocked in the goal.

Armando Aguilar scored his second goal of the season and the team’s third at 75:00. Aguilar kicked the ball with a high arc shot that found the upper right corner of the net past the surprised goalkeeper for the final 3-0 score.

Overall, the Bearcats outshot the Privateers, 26-10, which included a 13-2 margin in the first half.
Guy Sharav posted the solo shutout with three saves.

The men’s soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, October 10, with a 7:00 pm CUNYAC road contest at Lehman College in the Bronx.
