Bearcats Split Another Doubleheader, Win 10-2, Lose 5-2 vs Lehman

The Baruch College Bearcats and the Lightning of Lehman College split a CUNYAC doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Lehman College in the Bronx.

The Bearcats won the first game in five innings via mercy rule with a score of 10-2, but the Lightning captured the second game by winning 5-2 for the split. With the result, the Bearcats are 10-14 overall and 6-2 in the CUNYAC, while Lehman improves to 9-15 overall and 3-7 in the CUNYAC.

In the first game, the Bearcats jumped to a 6-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 10-2 victory in five innings.
Melanie Pellegrino had another solid game batting 3-for-4, with two runs scored and one RBI. Toniann Donde batted 2-for-2, with a run scored.

Regina Cardinale smacked a two run single to left field in the fourth inning. Chelsea DeGuzman stole two bases. Olivia Auman earned the win on the mound with five innings pitched, seven hits allowed, two earned runs and three strikeouts.

In the second game, Lehman set the tone early with a solo home run in the first inning. The Bearcats tied the game in the third inning as Toniann Donde smacked an RBI double to score Melanie Pellegrino.

The Bearcats scored another run in the fourth inning to lead 2-1.
Lysandra Dillon recorded her first intercollegiate RBI with an infield single to score Holly Isenberg.

Lehman fought back with four runs on three hits and two errors to take over the lead of 5-2 in the sixth inning. They held the Bearcats scoreless in their final two at-bats to record their first victory over Baruch since 2003.

The softball team will continue their busy Spring Break schedule on Thursday, April 12, with a 3:00 pm non-conference doubleheader at Richard Stockton College in Pomona, New Jersey.
