The softball team suffered a disappointing CUNYAC doubleheader sweep to the College of Staten Island on Saturday afternoon in Staten Island, New York.

The Bearcats lost 12-4 (5 innings) and 8-0 (5 innings) to drop their record drop to 12-22 overall and 8-4 in the CUNYAC, while the home team Dolphins improve to 12-16 overall and 9-1 in the CUNYAC.

The two losses also drop the Bearcats to third place in the seeding for the CUNYAC Championship Tournament that gets underway on Wednesday, May 2. The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) will announce the seeding, schedule and ticket information later this week.

The first game started off competitively, but Staten Island scored eight runs on six hits to break open the contest for the 12-4 home victory.

Olivia Auman had a solid game for the visiting Bearcats by batting 2-for-3, with a lead off solo homer in the fourth inning and an RBI double in the fifth inning to score Kimberly Hernandez. Chelsea DeGuzman (3-for-3) and Nicole Flint (2-for-3, double) also had a productive game at the plate.

Regina Cardinale smacked a two RBI single in the fifth inning to score Olivia Auman and Maria Vlahopoulos.

In the second game, the Bearcats were held scoreless.
Toniann Donde and Olivia Auman each had two singles, while Nicole Flint and Regina Cardinale finished with a single each.

Staten Island scored five runs on five hits in the sixth inning to earn the victory.

The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, April 25, with a 3:00 pm non-conference doubleheader at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York.
