The Baruch College Bearcats and Farmingdale State Rams went on to split a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon in Farmingdale, New York.

The visiting Bearcats won the opening game in extra innings, 6-5, but fell in the second game, 11-3, against their opponent that competes in the Skyline Conference.

In the opener, Baruch's freshman third baseman
Toniann Donde homered in the second inning to give her team the 1-0 lead, but the Rams went ahead in the fourth with three runs on three straight extra-base hits to left field.

The Bearcats tied it 3-3 in the sixth inning.
Regina Cardinale scored on a fielding error and Nicole Flint singled to right field to score Carmen Pagan-Colon for the tying run.

Farmingdale went ahead by one in the bottom of the inning with a double to score freshman centerfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) from second base.

In the seventh, Baruch took back the 5-4 lead with a two RBI single by senior shortstop
Melanie Pellegrino. The Rams tied the game on a bunt single by freshman designated hitter Patricia Johnson (Patchogue, N.Y.), which moved sophomore pinch runner Kelly O'Brien (Center Moriches, N.Y.) to third and she came around to score on a throwing error, forcing the game into extra-innings.

Baruch junior pitcher Nicole Flint knocked in the game-winning run in the 8th with a single to left field to score senior catcher Carmen Pagan-Colon from second base to go up 6-5. The Rams had two runners on in the bottom of the inning, but were not able to capitalize, falling to 14-7 overall.

Flint allowed nine hits for the win, while striking out five as Baruch improved to 6-9. Farmingdale freshman Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) struck out five in defeat, surrendering just two earned runs.

In the second game, the Rams scored in every inning and would take the win, 11-3, ending the game in the bottom of the fifth, two outs, on an RBI single to left by Richman.

Sophomore shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.) led for Farmingdale going 3-for-4 with three RBI's and three runs scored.

Melanie Pellegrino led the Bearcats at the plate by batting 2-for-3 with a run scored. Regina Cardinale
and Pagan-Colon scored a run each, while Courtney White had an RBI single in the fourth inning.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, April 6, on the first day of Spring Break with an 11:00 am CUNYAC home doubleheader against John Jay College of Criminal Justice. First pitch at Randall’s Island Field #12 is scheduled for 11:00 am.
