The Bearcats lost 8-0 in six innings to the #12-ranked Montclair State University Red Hawks in an opening round NCAA contest played on Thursday morning at the Union, New Jersey Regional hosted by Kean University.

The Red Hawks (39-7), the #1 seed in the regional, smacked three homers and limited the Bearcats to one hit to record their 39th overall victory of the season.

"We committed several errors and that got us behind early in the contest," said Head Coach Jose Negroni. "You gotta give Montclair State credit, they hit the ball well with three home runs. We will put this behind us and get ready for tomorrow."

The visiting Bearcats (17-26) managed to get two runners on base in the fifth inning in their best scoring opportunity of the tough morning contest.
Chelsea DeGuzman reached base on a fielder’s choice and Courtney White followed with a single to right field to get runners on first and third base.

However, Montclair State pitcher Alex Hill shut down the Bearcats to end the inning without allowing a run to post the NCAA victory.

The Bearcats will play on Friday, May 11, at 10:00 am, against the Alvernia University Crusaders from the Commonwealth Conference in a double-elimination game. Alvernia lost a 2-1 contest in extra innings to The College of New Jersey.
