The women’s volleyball team began their CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) schedule by defeating Brooklyn and York in conference matches played on Saturday morning at York College in Jamaica, New York.

With the results, the Bearcats improve their season record to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in CUNYAC.

The Bearcats began by sweeping Brooklyn with scores of 25-9, 25-14, 25-11.

Rebecca Peralta led the team with 11 kills (.500) and seven service aces. McKenzie Davidson added five kills (.500), while Melinda Santiago dished out 20 assists and totaled five service aces.

In the second match, the Bearcats defeated York with scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-12.

Peralta led the way again with nine kills (.333) and a career-high 10 service aces. Lauren Hayden had five kills (.667) and Crystle Dela Cruz dished out 13 assists to help the team stretch their win streak to 12 against CUNYAC opposition.

The Bearcats will return to action and continue their CUNYAC schedule on Friday, September 14, with a 6:00 pm home match in the ARC Arena against CCNY.
