Box Score

The men's basketball team defeated the Cyclones of Centenary College, 62-49, in the team's home opener on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

Neither team shot the ball well this evening, but the Bearcats made enough key baskets and recorded 11 steals with a solid defensive effort on every inch of the home court to walk away with the victory.

The Bearcats led by two points (26-24) three minutes into the second half, but a three-point play by
Joshua Vital, a layup by Granville Gittens, and a three-pointer by Raymond De La Cruz increased the lead to 10 points with 13:11 left.

That run was enough as the visiting Cyclones could never get as close as seven points the rest of the game.

The Cyclones finished shooting 28.4 percent (19-67) and connected on only 2-of-16 three-point attempts, which include missing all ten attempts during the second half.

The Bearcats shot 33.9 percent (19-56) and 1-of-8 from three-point range, but did receive 28 points from the bench.

Vital led all scorers this evening with 19 points (5-9 fg) and grabbed eight rebounds. Gittens (12 rebounds) accounted for 13 of the 28 bench points, while
Brian McMahon had a solid game with a career-high five blocks, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, November 21, with an 8:00 pm contest uptown at Yeshiva University. This contest will feature
free live streaming video over the internet.
