The women's volleyball team won their third straight CUNYAC Tournament Championship and earned a berth to the NCAA Div. III National Tournament by defeating rival Hunter College in five exciting sets on Friday night at the Hunter College Sportsplex in upper Manhattan.

The NCAA Tournament will get underway with first round matches on Friday, November 15. The Bearcats will discover their first round opponent and location on Monday, November 11, at 11:00 am via an online video announcement at NCAA.com

The Bearcats posted a hard-fought five set victory with scores of 11-25, 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 15-9 to record their seventh-ever championship (list down below).

They started the match badly after strong hitting by Hunter and loud home support carried them to the opening set rout with a score of 25-11. The Bearcats never allowed the pressure to get to them and responded by winning the next two sets to turn the momentum into their favor, as well as bring out the vocal support of the Baruch community in attendance.

Hunter took the fourth set to force the exciting tie-breaker between two rivals that have played each other 13 times in the CUNYAC championship match.

Hunter jumped out to a 7-5 lead, but the Bearcats took over with three straight points to lead at the change-over, 8-7. They continued to hit the ball well and Crystle Dela Cruz finished with an ace on a ball that stayed inside the line by only a few inches for match point and victory.

Dela Cruz earned MVP honors with 49 assists, 14 digs and a career-high eight kills hitting .727.

Amy Sung, the 2013 CUNYAC Libero of the Year, almost tied her career-high (29) with 27 assists.

Rebecca Peralta (16 kills, 16 digs) and Sydney Parks (15 kills, 3 blocks) were each named to the All-Tournament Team to help finish off a successful championship.

Neither team hit the ball well this evening, but the visiting Bearcats totaled 60 kills compared to 49 by Hunter to take the title back home to campus.
