Softball Drops Doubleheader to William Paterson

The Bearcats suffered a doubleheader sweep to the Pioneers from William Paterson University on Thursday afternoon in Wayne, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats suffered losses of 4-0 and 10-0 to drop to 10-12 overall, while the Pioneers improve to 14-16.

In the first game,
Christine Bowman led the team at the plate batting 2-for-3 with a single and double.

Nicole Flint, Olivia Auman and Toniann Donde each had a single for the team’s five total hits.

The game was tightly contested with the Pioneers leading 2-0 after five innings, but they put the game out of reach with two more runs in the sixth inning for the game 1 victory.

In the second game, the Bearcats were limited to three hits with
Megan Ruiz, Courtney White and Doukas each recording a single.

The game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Pioneers scored five runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings for the second shutout victory on their home field.

The Bearcats will return to action Friday, April 19, with a rescheduled 3:00 pm doubleheader against the College of Mount Saint Vincent at Randall’s Island Field #17.

The two teams were initially scheduled to play on March 17, but it was postponed by rain.
