Softball Sweeps Doubleheader vs John Jay (7-0, 8-3)

The softball team started their CUNYAC schedule on a positive note by sweeping a doubleheader against John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Tuesday afternoon at Randall’s Island Field #16.

The Bearcats won with scores of 7-0 and 8-3 to improve to 3-6 overall and 2-0 in the CUNYAC. The Bloodhounds drop to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the CUNYAC.


Nicole Flint dominated with a one hitter to go along with nine strikeouts to record the opening game shutout.

Chelsea DeGuzman batted 3-for-4 with a first inning two run homer to score Olivia Auman.

Courtney White also batted 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Toniann Donde (two doubles) and Megan Ruiz contributed two hits each in the victory during the last day of spring break.

In the second game, rookie
Christine Bowman earned the complete game victory with a solid pitching line of seven innings, two earned runs, six strikeouts, and two walks.

The visiting Bearcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead behind a 3-for-5 with two RBI batting performance from Ruiz.

Donde, Flint, White and
Gianna Doukas each had one RBI to help complete the 8-3 victory.

The softball team will return to action on Thursday with a 3:30 pm non-conference doubleheader at Farmingdale State on Long Island.
