Softball Drops Two in CUNYAC Championship, Season Ends With 19 Wins

The softball team lost their two games on Friday afternoon in the CUNYAC Championship Tournament played at the College of Staten Island softball complex.

The Bearcats (19-18) lost the opener 5-4 to rival Hunter and dropped a 9-1 season-ending contest in five innings to Brooklyn College.

Against Hunter, the Bearcats took a 2-1 lead in the third inning on an RBI triple by
Chelsea DeGuzman and a sacrifice fly RBI by Toniann Donde.
 
Hunter scored three runs in the sixth inning on a bases clearing triple and another run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly RBI to lead 5-2.

The Bearcats rallied with a two run single by
Nicole Flint in their final at-bat to get as close as 5-4, but the game would end in defeat sending the Bearcats into the elimination game.

The Bulldogs of Brooklyn College scored six runs in the first inning and the Bearcats never recovered to suffer the postseason defeat.

The team scored their lone run in the fourth inning on a fielder’s choice RBI by
Regina Cardinale.
