Box Score

The men's soccer team suffered a season-opening 3-2 loss to the Violets of New York University on Saturday afternoon at Gaelic Park on the campus of Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York.

The visiting Bearcats scored the opening goal and led 2-1 late in the contest, but the Violets from the University Athletic Association (UAA) scored twice within a six minute span of the second half to pull out the non-conference home victory.

Kevin Romero started the action in the 30th minute by scoring on a scramble from inside the box with a shot from seven yards out. The Violets quickly tied it three minutes later as the two teams finished the first half tied at one.

The Bearcats struck again in the 63rd minute with
Oren Kozlowski heading in a goal via a long cross into the box by Victor Tlepshev.

Barton Reece headed in goals in the 78th and 84th minutes to clinch the 3-2 comeback for the Violets.

Baruch will return to action on Wednesday, September 4, with a 5:00 pm home opener contest at the Met Oval against Farmingdale State from the Skyline Conference.
