Women's Volleyball Defeat Farmingdale State, Fall to FDU-Florham in Home Tri-Match

The women's volleyball team split their two matches on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats hosted a tri-match and started play against Farmingdale State from the Skyline Conference. They had a rough second set, but still managed to pull out a four-set victory against the Rams with scores of 25-8, 22-25, 25-12, 25-22.


Rebecca Peralta, the CUNYAC Player of the Week, totaled 12 kills with a career-high nine aces and six digs in a solid all-around effort.

Michelle Stommes had seven kills hitting .500. McKenzie Davidson totaled a team-high 13 digs and Crystle Dela Cruz dished out 30 assists to lift the team to their second home win of the season.

In the second match against a quality opponent FDU-Florham from the Freedom Conference, the Bearcats suffered a four-set loss with scores of 25-15, 25-14, 18-25, 25-13.

Peralta led the attack again with nine kills and Davidson finished with eight kills.
Amy Sung contributed 12 digs and Dela Cruz had 31 assists and 11 digs in the tough home loss.

The Devils from FDU-Florham totaled 53 kills and finished hitting .261. They swept Farmingdale State in their respective head-to-head match with scores of 25-16, 25-16, 25-14.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, September 12, with a short subway trip to Greenwich College to play against the Violets of New York University. The non-conference match, which will be available via live stats and video, will begin at 6:00 pm.
