Box Score

The women's basketball team lost a hard-fought game to #2-ranked Amherst College, 73-63, in the championship game of the Amherst Tip-Off Tournament played on Sunday afternoon in Amherst, Massachusetts.

The Bearcats were trailing 59-52, but scored seven straight points to tie the contest with 7:19 remaining to put a scare into the Lord Jeffs.

Sheridan Taylor started the 7-0 run with a pair of free throws, Alicea Ulmer hit a layup, and Kristen Podlovits connected on a three to tie the contest at 59.

Unfortunately, the Lord Jeffs responded with a run of their own by scoring 10 consecutive points over the next five minutes to turn the tie at 59 into a 69-59 lead with 2:41 remaining. The Bearcats could not recover to suffer the tough road loss.

They will get another chance to play one of the nation's best this Tuesday, November 25, with a 7:00 pm home contest against No. 1 ranked FDU-Florham. It is very rare to play the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the same week of the regular season, but the Bearcats have that opportunity.

Iyana Abrams led the Bearcats this afternoon with a double-double of 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Francess Henry totaled 13 points, eight rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals, while Alicea Ulmer rounded out the double-figure scorers with a double-double of 12 points, 12 rebounds and one blocked shot.

The Bearcats forced the Lord Jeffs into committing 19 turnovers and blocked four of their shots.

Today's win was the 100th consecutive home win for the Lord Jeffs of Amherst College.
