The women's basketball team recorded a convincing 75-50 victory over rival Hunter College Hawks in a CUNYAC contest played on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex in New York City.

With the exception of a three by Hunter to start the game, the visiting Bearcats controlled play and finished the first half with a 12-3 run for a 31-17 halftime lead. The defense limited the Hawks to four field goals in the opening 20 minutes.

During the second half, the Bearcats shot 49 percent (16-for-33) and ran away from the Hawks by managing to lead by as many as 33 points late in the game.

Francess Henry scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the second half to go along with six rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.

Veronica Ganzi scored 18 points by shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. She also contributed four assists.

Sheridan Taylor notched a double-double for the fourth time in five games this season with 13 points, 13 rebounds and two steals. Symone Green (eight points, four rebounds) and Ashika Kuruvilla (eight rebounds) each had a solid game off the bench.

Kristen Markoe, the sister of Baruch men's basketball player Ryan Markoe, had a double-double of 21 points, 11 rebounds and two steals on Hunter Homecoming Night.

The Bearcats will hit the road again next Tuesday, December 9, with a 5:30 pm CUNYAC contest at the College of Staten Island Dolphins.
