Women's Volleyball Off to 2-0 Start in CUNYAC, Sweep John Jay and Lehman at Multi-Match

The women's volleyball team owns a three-match winning streak after sweeping John Jay and Lehman Colleges on Saturday afternoon at the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by Lehman in the Bronx, New York.

The Bearcats started their CUNYAC schedule with an early morning match against John Jay and posted a 25-8, 25-15, 25-15 victory. They controlled the match with 27 kills hitting .246, while the Bloodhounds struggled with 13 kills hitting a negative .054.


Symone Green led the way with 12 kills hitting .381. McKenzie Davidson totaled seven kills and eight digs. Crystle Dela Cruz had 23 assists with one ace.

In the second match, the Bearcats swept Lehman with scores of 25-19 in each set. They controlled the momentum again with 33 kills compared to only 15 by their opponent.


Sydney Parks pounded out 10 kills hitting .444 to go along with two blocks. Green and Michelle Stommes each finished with seven kills. Catherine Cespedes and Amy Sung totaled 12 digs each in the conference win.

The women's volleyball team will finally return home to the friendly confines of the ARC Arena this week with matches on Wednesday against Rutgers-Newark and Thursday against York College. Each match will begin at 6:00 pm.
