Women's Volleyball Drops Two in Pennsylvania

The women's volleyball team lost their two matches Friday in the first day of the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Bearcats started strong and jumped out to a 2-0 lead (28-26, 25-22) against Moravian College from the Landmark Conference, but the opponent rallied with 25-18, 27-25, 15-5 set wins to squeeze out the overall 3-2 win.


Michelle Stommes led the attack with a team-high 13 kills to go along with 13 digs, while Sydney Parks totaled 12 kills hitting a solid .321. McKenzie Davidson had 11 kills/15 digs and Crystle Dela Cruz tallied 45 assists in the tough loss.

In the second match, the Bearcats battled hard again, but fell to Allegheny with scores of 11-25, 19-25, 25-16, 10-25.

Stommes led the way again with 13 kills and 22 digs.
Amy Sung totaled a season-high 27 digs in the loss to an opponent from the North Coast Athletic Conference.

The Bearcats will look to bounce back on Saturday in the consolation bracket with a 10:00 am match against Rutgers-Camden, followed by 12:00 pm versus Elizabethtown.
