Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Bearcats' Winning Streak at Four, McKenzie Davidson Makes History With 1,000 Kill

The women's volleyball team won both of their matches on Saturday afternoon at the Tri-Match hosted by Rutgers-Newark in Newark, Jersey.

The Bearcats started by sweeping the Privateers of SUNY Maritime with scores of 25-21, 25-12, 25-22.

History was made during the match as
McKenzie Davidson became the second player in team history (joining Lauren Hayden '12) to record 1,000 or more kills in her playing career for Baruch. Davidson, who already has over 1,000 career digs and points, finished the winning match with 10 kills and eight digs.

Crystle Dela Cruz had 37 assists and 12 digs, while CUNYAC and ECAC Metro Libero of the Week Amy Sung totaled 14 digs.

In the second match, the Bearcats fell behind two sets to one, but came back strong in a comeback with scores of 16-25, 25-20, 21-25, 28-26, 15-10.

Sydney Parks had a big match with 17 kills, while Davidson was busy again with 14 kills and 22 digs.

Sung had a monster effort with a career-high of 51 digs and Dela Cruz was outstanding again with numbers of 47 assists and a career-high 31 digs to compete the win.

The win against Rutgers-Newark also marks the team's third straight win against an opponent that competes in the highly competitive New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). The team recently beat Kean University and William Paterson University of the NJAC as part of their current four-match winning streak.

The Bearcats will now prepare for their biggest CUNYAC day of the season on Columbus Day, Monday, October 12, at the Multi-Match hosted by Brooklyn College. The Bearcats will play Staten Island at 9:00 am, followed by rival Hunter at 1:00 pm.
