Bearcats Win 7th Consecutive Match, Dela Cruz Surpasses 3,000 Assists, Team Defeats CMSV

The women's volleyball team won a highly competitive match in four sets (33-31, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19) against the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins on Thursday night in Riverdale, New York.

The victory extends the team's winning streak to seven in a row, while improving to 14-15 overall on the regular season schedule.

The match started with a marathon first set that ended 33-31 after a Symone Green kill and an attack error by the Dolphins handed the Bearcats the opening set win.

The Dolphins came back strong to win the second set, but the visiting Bearcats took the next two sets for the road victory to extend their win streak.

Alessandra Chavez starred with a career-high 11 kills and 11 digs to provide the extra punch in the win.

Akilah Meulens also came up big with 10 kills and Green finished with nine kills to lead the attack. McKenzie Davidson posted big numbers again with seven kills and 15 digs.

It was a busy past week for the team for individual (Davidson 1,000th kill) and team accomplishments (defeated rival Hunter). Tonight was no different as Crystle Dela Cruz surpassed 3,000 career assists with 39 to stand at 3,025. She becomes the third all-time player in team history to record 3,000 or more assists joining Melinda Santiago '12 (3,832) and Safia Mian '05 (3,049).

The Bearcats will hit the road on Saturday to Grantham, Pennsylvania for a 1:00 pm match at Messiah College.
