Women's Volleyball Sweeps William Paterson (25-15, 27-25, 25-22)

The women's volleyball team swept the Pioneers of William Paterson University in a non-conference match played on Thursday evening in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats finished with 45 kills, hitting .191, while the visitors from Wayne, New Jersey had 32 kills hitting .096.

The turning point of the match came in the second set as the Bearcats trailed twice with scores of 19-15 and 23-19, but managed to rally back to win 27-25 for a 2-0 set lead that proved too difficult for the Pioneers.

McKenzie Davidson had an outstanding match with 13 kills and eight digs, while Akilah Meulens totaled 11 kills and Symone Green had nine in the team's second consecutive win against an opponent from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

Issel Garcia and Erin Roach led the visiting Pioneers with 11 kills each.

In other exciting team news, Sydney Parks (Player) and Amy Sung (Libero) earned Weekly CUNYAC honors. Sung did the double also being named the ECAC Metro Div. III Libero of the Week.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, October 10, with a tri-match at Rutgers-Newark in Newark, New Jersey. They play SUNY-Maritime at 1:00 pm, followed by the hosts Rutgers-Newark at 3:00 pm.
