Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The softball team started their schedule on a cold Monday afternoon against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College.

The young team has endured a rough start due to the cold and wintry weather that has forced their first five scheduled doubleheaders to be postponed.

Per conference rules mandating rescheduled contests taking place as soon as possible or the following Monday, the Bearcats took on the Bulldogs this afternoon as the home team on Brooklyn's home field since their previous contest on March 17 was postponed.

The young Bearcats lost both contests (19-0, 18-4), but put up a strong battle in the second game before a late surge by the Bulldogs lifted them to the doubleheader sweep.

In the second game, the Bearcats fell behind early 5-0, but they battled back with four runs in the second inning to get as close as 5-4.

Carissa Yannotti was responsible for the team's first runs of the 2015 season with a long double to left field to score Kimberly Rodriguez and Victoria Dolan to cut the score to 5-2.

Yircary Caraballo would then steal second and advanced to third on a throwing error. That enabled Yannotti on the same play to score for the team's third run.

Christina Chin hit an RBI ground out to score to score Caraballo to account for the team's fourth run for a close 5-4 contest at that point.

The team will resume action on Tuesday, March 24, with a 3:30 pm CUNYAC home doubleheader against the College of Mount St. Vincent at Randall's Island Field #35.
