Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The softball team played the Lightning of Lehman College in a CUNYAC doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon in the Bronx, New York.

The visiting Bearcats lost the first game, 9-1, but bounced back in a big way in the second with an 11-7 win to split the doubleheader.

The Lightning scored four runs in their first at-bat and ended the game in five innings with a five-run fifth inning for the win. The Bearcats scored their only run in the third on a
Jacqueline Gioia sacrifice fly RBI to score Christina Chin.

The second game saw an explosive output by the Bearcats with a season-high 11 runs. They jumped out to a 7-1 advantage to establish the momentum early in the game.

Gioia and
Victoria Dolan each hit RBI doubles to start the scoring and Kristen Podlovits followed up by smacking a two-run homer for a four-run first inning.

Gioia then hit an RBI single and Dolan had a two run-single to build up the 7-1 advantage in the second inning on an overcast afternoon.

Lehman threatened by scoring the next four runs to get as close as 7-5, but the Bearcats responded with a Dolan sacrifice fly RBI to bring home Chin in the sixth inning for an 8-5 score.

Lehman hit a two-run homer during their next at-bat to get close at 8-7, but the Bearcats scored four runs via RBI singles by Chin and
Jessica Piccolino, followed by a bases loaded walk by Dolan to wrap up the 11-7 win.

Chin had a solid game batting 4-for-5, with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Dolan finished with a career-high five RBI, while Podlovits homer was the team's first this season.

The Bearcats will hit the road again on Thursday with a 3:00 pm non-conference doubleheader at St. Elizabeth's College in Morristown, New Jersey.
