The softball team lost a doubleheader to SUNY-Old Westbury on Friday afternoon at Randall's Island.

The day started with rain in the morning, but the two teams, who have suffered a large number of postponements this season, were resilient and played the two games without any issues during the late afternoon.

The Bearcats lost 4-1 in a very competitive first game. Old Westbury built up a 3-0 lead in the first three innings, but the Bearcats battled back in the sixth inning.
Kimberly Rodriguez hit a sacrifice bunt to plate Kristen Podlovits to cut the score to 3-1.

The visiting Panthers scored an insurance run in the seventh and held on for the close victory.

In the second game, the Bearcats fell in five innings, 13-3. Old Westbury did most of their damage in their first at-bat with six runs.

The Bearcats did not go quietly and responded with two runs in their own first at-bat.
Victoria Dolan smacked an RBI double through the left side to score Jessica Piccolino. Jacqueline Gioia stepped up to the plate next and hit an RBI single to bring home Dolan for a 6-2 score line at the time.

The Panthers would eventually take control by scoring the next six runs, but the Bearcats struck again with a run in the fifth inning as Rodriguez hit an RBI single to score Dolan. The game ended with a 13-3 score.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, April 4, with a non-conference doubleheader at St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn. The doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Padavan-Preller Fields in Queens.
Live stats will be available for these two games.
