The softball team earned their first two wins with a doubleheader victory against the Cardinals of York College on Monday morning at Randall's Island Field #15.

The Bearcats won the first game in five innings, 14-2. They scored five runs in their opening at-bat en route to the win.

Jaclyn Torres had one of the biggest hits of the morning game with a double to clear the bases for three RBI in the big first inning. Jacqueline Gioia had a two RBI single at the plate in the third inning and was just as effective on the mound (5IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 4BB, 8K) with eight strikeouts.

In the second game, it was a high-scoring affair with each team combining for 25 runs as the Bearcats came out on top, 18-7.

Christina Chin, Carissa Yannotti and Gioia each had two hits. Chin also scored four runs, while Kimberly Rodriguez, Kristen Podlovits and Gioia each scored three runs.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, April 11, with a 1:00 pm CUNYAC road doubleheader against John Jay College of Criminal Justice at Randall's Island Field #16.
