Women's Volleyball Finishes With 2-2 Record at DeSales Invitational

The women's volleyball team finished with a 2-2 record at the DeSales Invitational this holiday weekend in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.

Last night, the team swept Rutgers-Camden (3-0), but fell to Washington College of Maryland (0-3).

Today, they defeated Gwynedd-Mercy (3-1), but fell in a very tough match with the weekend hosts DeSales (3-1).

Against Gwynedd-Mercy, they won in four sets with scores of 23-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-13.
Sydney Parks had a big match with 14 kills, hitting a torrid .650. She also added eight digs on the defensive end.
 

Akilah Meulens (11 kills, .333) and Symone Green (10 kills, .318, three block solos) each hit in double-figures, while McKenzie Davidson finished with eight kills and 15 digs.

Crystle Dela Cruz dished out a season-high 48 assists to defeat an opponent that competes in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

In the second match, the Bearcats lost in four, but did not go quietly against DeSales from the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) with scores of 16-25, 19-25, 25-23, 12-25.

Davidson led the attack with seven kills and 12 digs, while Meulens totaled five kills. Dela Cruz was busy again with 19 assists and 18 digs.
Nicole Rios was solid with a career-high 13 digs.

Akilah Meulens was named to the DeSales Invitational All-Tournament Team.

The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, September 11, with a tri-match at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. They will play Montclair State at 4:00 pm and Gordon College at 6:00 pm.
