Big First Half Run Lifts TCNJ Past Bearcats

The men's basketball team lost 85-62 to the Lions from the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in a non-conference contest on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 18, in Trenton, New Jersey.

The Lions broke open the contest with a 23-2 run in the first half to take a 47-29 lead into the halftime intermission. They started the second half by scoring the first nine points en route to the win as they finished shooting 51 percent (30-for-59), including 10-of-23 from three, to raise their season record to 10-6.

The visiting Bearcats shot 34 percent (21-for-61) to drop to 9-8 overall. Chimaechi Ekekeugbor led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds. William Sixsmith and Raymond De La Cruz each scored 10 points.

Eric Murdoch, Jr. and Elias Bermudez scored 16 points each for the Lions.

The Bearcats will resume conference action on Friday, January 22, at 7:30 p.m. at home in the ARC Arena against rival Hunter College Hawks.

Please note the Baruch College Alumni Office will host Alumni Night, including Student-Athlete Alumni, on Friday, January 22 during the women's swim meet and basketball doubleheader vs Hunter College.
