Men's Basketball Competes Against D1/Big East St. John's University in Exhibition

For the fourth straight season and sixth time since 2008, the men's basketball program competed in an exhibition against a high-level NCAA Division I opponent.

This year, the Bearcats traveled to Jamaica, New York on Halloween Monday, October 31, to take on the Red Storm of St. John's University at historic Carnesecca Arena.

The Bearcats suffered a 99-49 loss against the much taller and quicker scholarship opponent that competes in the Big East Conference.

"I think what this game does for us is give us an experience that nobody else on our schedule has," said Head Coach John Alesi. " I think that's a good thing. I think it's good to test kids early. We will go through the rest of our season and reference this game tonight. Nothing will be as difficult for us down the road as it was tonight."

Chimaechi Ekekeugbor led the Bearcats with 14 points and six rebounds.

Overall, the Bearcats have played Yale University (twice), Manhattan College, Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, and now St. John's University in exhibitions against Division I.
