Bearcats Compete in CUNYAC Championship Tournament

The fifth-seeded Bearcats were defeated by the eight-seeded Cardinals of York College, 72-63, in the opening round of the CUNYAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament in the ARC Arena on Friday night.

Veronica Ganzi scored a season-high 35 points to lead all scorers, and Shannon Barrett added a double-double of 17 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks.

Demetra Papadopoulos grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds (eight offensive) on the defensive end.

The Cardinals were led by Angelika Ruggiano with 26 points, and Shauncia McClendon with 21 points.

Jigcara Grant contributed a big double-double in the win with 14 points and 36 rebounds.  

The loss finishes the Bearcats season with a final record of 10-15.
