The softball team swept the Lightning of Lehman College (10-2, 8-2) in a CUNYAC home doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island.

Prior to the games, the team honored seniors
Zulay Scottborgh, Christina Chin, and Jessica Piccolino for their outstanding years of service to the team.

After the games, the team hosted their annual alumni game with past softball and baseball players getting on the field one more time for some competitive softball fun in the sun.

The two wins today over Lehman help the Bearcats increase their season total to seven, which is more than the previous two seasons. The team still has seven regular season and at least one postseason remaining on their schedule.

The Bearcats won the opener, 10-2, in six innings thanks to leadership from the senior class. Scottborgh had the finest game of her career batting 3-for-4, with three RBI and two runs scored. Chin also had a memorable day batting a perfect 3-for-3, with a run scored and stolen base, while Piccolino was solid batting 2-for-3 with a stolen base.

Rookie
Cassandra Lagana batted 3-for-5 at the plate along with a solid pitching performance (6 IP, 2 ER, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 K) on the mound for the win.

In the second game, the Bearcats took control early with three runs in the first inning. They never trailed the entire day and received a 3-for-4 batting performance with a home run from
Nicole Bellini en route to the 8-2 win. Eight different players recorded at least one hit.

The Bearcats will resume their CUNYAC schedule tomorrow, Sunday, April 24, with a 12 p.m. road doubleheader at the College of Staten Island.
