Men's Soccer Blanks Skidmore (1-0) in Utica Invitational

The men's soccer team defeated the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College, 1-0, in an opening round match of the Utica College Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Utica, New York.

Shaiem Morad scored his first intercollegiate goal on a header, off a free kick assist by Stanley Goldberg, just seconds before the halftime whistle for one of the better quality non-conference wins in recent memory.

Morad also led the Bearcats with three shots on goal to even the team's season record at 1-1.

Skidmore attempted 24 shots, compared to eight by the Bearcats, but Xavier Carrillo posted a career-high 12 saves, along with getting superb help from the defense in front of him, for the victory.

The Bearcats will return to action tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. against weekend hosts Utica College.
