Rams Knock Out Bearcats (65-54)

The women's basketball team lost a matinee to the Rams of Farmingdale State College, 65-54, in a non-conference contest on Thursday afternoon on Long Island.

The Rams built a 20-point lead (34-14) during the second quarter and entered the halftime break ahead, 38-24.

The visiting Bearcats did not go away and cut the deficit to five points at the start of the fourth quarter (47-42).

The Rams scored back-to-back baskets to lead, 51-42, but Daniela Arias responded for the Bearcats with back-to-back baskets of her own to cut the lead back to five (57-52).

The Rams scored the next six points to go up, 63-52, with 1:06 left en route to the win.

Shannon Barrett led the team with a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Veronica Ganzi was next with 15 points to reach 1,300 career points.

Tyra Harrison finished for the host Rams with 20 points.

The Bearcats will resume action on Wednesday, January 25, with a 5:30 p.m. CUNYAC home contest against the College of Staten Island.
