The men's basketball team clinched the fourth seed in the 2017 CUNYAC Championship Tournament by defeating the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 59-49, on Monday night in the ARC Arena.

Prior to the game, the team celebrated Senior Night by honoring
Dwayne Brydie in front of family and friends.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 36-19 advantage at halftime and started the second half with a quick basket by
Allen Villar for their biggest lead, 38-19.

The visiting Bloodhounds did not go quietly and managed to get as close as eight points (44-36) midway through the second half.

The Bearcats took control down the stretch with six points by
Chimaechi Ekekeugbor, while Jack Sixsmith and William Sixsmith each hit a pair of crucial free throws in the final minute to help seal the win.

The Bearcats will host a quarterfinal round playoff game on Sunday, February 19 (time TBA). The CUNY Athletic Conference will officially announce the full tournament schedule and times shortly.
