Bearcats Split Doubleheader Against Haverford

The baseball team split a doubleheader (W 4-2, L 9-3) against the Fords of Haverford College at the Gene Cusic Classic on Friday morning in Fort Myers, Florida.

Cameron Kitt pitched a complete game two-hitter (7IP, 2R, 1ER, 8K) to win the 4-2 opener, while Edwin St. Hilaire batted 2-for-3 with a two run homer in the third inning that stood as the winning hit.

Jasdeep Buttar started the scoring by smacking an RBI single in the first inning and an RBI double in the third. St. Hilaire then followed Buttar in that third inning with the homer for the 4-0 lead that proved to be enough to hold on to the win.

In the second game, the Bearcats started the scoring again in their first at-bat with
Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. hitting an RBI single to plate Ramon Moreta .

The Fords exploded for four runs in their bottom of the first and added three more in the third to lead 7-1.

The Bearcats would later score on an RBI single by
Raymond Maurer to plate Angel Acevedo in the fifth inning and Dan Daley scored on a wild pitch in the sixth, but it was not enough to avert the 9-3 loss.

St. Hilaire and Mauer each finished with two hits. Moreta recorded a stolen base.

Ethan Lee-Tyson led the Fords batting 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

The Bearcats will continue their baseball games in Florida on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. single contest against Skidmore College.
