Bearcats Lose Doubleheader to Hunter

The softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader (9-1, 5-2) to rival Hunter College on a pleasant and warm Tuesday afternoon at Padavan-Preller Fields in Jamaica, New York.

In the opener, the Hawks jumped out early by scoring six runs in the first two innings en route to a 9-1 win in five innings.

The visiting Bearcats got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning on an Olivia Dellston RBI double to plate Nicole Bellini.

The second game was tightly contested. 

The Hawks scored first but the Bearcats quickly tied it with a sacrifice fly RBI by Juliann Gross that scored Dellston in the second inning.

The Hawks would later take a 4-1 lead into the fifth inning, but a Dellston RBI single to bring home Christina Chin cut the score to 4-2.

Unfortunately, the Hawks added one more run to seal the 5-2 win.

The softball team will return to action on Wednesday, April 12, with another rescheduled doubleheader at Farmingdale State College on Long Island. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
