Baruch's Six-Game Winning Streak Snapped

The men's basketball team saw a six-game winning streak snapped after a 76-67 home loss to Lehman College on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The visiting Lightning shot 56 percent (29-for-52) to improve to 12-1 in the CUNYAC standings, while the Bearcats shot 40 percent (26-for-65) to drop to 8-4 in third place.

The Bearcats started strong jumping out to an 11-2 lead, but the visitors clawed back with a 13-3 run to go ahead, 15-14. They took a 37-30 lead into the break.

The Bearcats battled during the second half but only managed to get as close as five points en route to suffering the disappointing home loss.

Chimaechi Ekekeugbor was tops with 29 points and eight rebounds. The native of Matawan, New Jersey and team's all-time leading scorer has now totaled 1,867 career points.

Anthony Gibbs had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Andrew Utate led Lehman with 19 points, which included a three from the corner for a 69-60 advantage with 2:26 left to break a Bearcat rally.

The team will next travel to Philadelphia on Saturday to compete in the CUNYAC/CSAC Challenge against Rosemont College at 3 p.m.
