Softball Begins Schedule With a Pair of Weekend DH

The softball team began their spring schedule this past weekend with non-conference doubleheaders against the Panthers of SUNY Purchase and the Dolphins from the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

The Bearcats started against the Panthers and suffered a pair of losses. Gabrielle Huezo smacked an RBI single and Danielle Petrunti had a two RBI single to account for the team's three total runs in the doubleheader loss. 

On Sunday, the team hosted the Dolphins at the St. Thomas Aquinas College softball complex in Sparkhill, New York.

The Bearcats scored four runs in the second contest. Huezo had another RBI single, while Cassandra Lagana recorded an RBI triple.

Nicole Bellini had two RBI, the first via a double to plate Kaitlyn Vichas and the second on a RBI ground out to bring home Lagana.

The team will resume action on Thursday with a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader at Sarah Lawrence College.
