Softball Sweeps Valley Forge (16-4, 12-10)

The softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader against the Patriots from the University of Valley Forge on Friday afternoon. 

The Bearcats won for the eighth time in their past 10 games by scoring 28 total runs in the doubleheader, which was originally scheduled to be played locally and then switched to Valley Forge due to better weather and turf.

In the opening 16-4 win in five innings, the Bearcats scored six runs in the second inning and broke it open with eight more in the fourth. 

Cassandra Lagana had two RBI at the plate and pitched a solid five innings for the win with eight strikeouts. Jasmine Rodriguez had two hits and Victoria Kisling scored three runs.

The second contest was a tougher affair as the Bearcats overcame an early 5-0 and later 10-3 deficit to post an impressive 12-10 comeback win.

The team batted around for seven runs in the sixth inning to tie the game. They took the lead in the seventh thanks to a pair of fielding errors that plated Lagana and Kisling. 

Nicole Bellini had a big game batting 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Gabrielle Huezo batted 2-3 with two RBI. 

Kisling earned the win with five strikeouts and helped herself at the plate scoring three runs for the second time today.
