Softball Shares the Spoils with John Jay

The softball team split their CUNYAC doubleheader versus John Jay on Thursday, winning the first game 9-6, and losing the second 2-7 on a chilly afternoon on Randall's Island.

The Bearcats battled back from an early three-run deficit in large part to
Chae Padron's two hits and four RBIs. Winning pitcher Cassandra Lagana helped herself at the plate, recording two hits and scoring two runs.

Danielle Petrunti put the Bearcats in front 4-3 with a deep two-run double in the fourth inning. A spectacular home run-saving catch by Nicole Bellini in centerfield in the fourth helped guarantee the win for Baruch.

Despite a solid outing from freshman pitcher
Victoria Kisling, the Bearcats fell short in the second game.

Bellini drove in both runs in the second game, but it wasn't enough as the team dropped their first conference game of the season.

The Bearcats return to action Sunday at Randall's Island, when they take on conference rivals Hunter in a home doubleheader. The team will be honoring their seniors before Sunday's game, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
