Women's Volleyball Earns First Win, Sweep Old Westbury

The women's volleyball team earned their first win with a 27-25, 25-19, 25-11 non-conference sweep of the Panthers from The College at Old Westbury on Thursday evening in the ARC Arena on home opener night.

The visiting Panthers started on fire in the opening set jumping out to a 12-2 lead, but the Bearcats recovered and battled all the way back for a 20-20 tie in an early comeback.

The two teams needed needed extra points after 25-25, but an attack error by the visitors and ace by Mina Pantovic sealed the 27-25 win.

The Bearcats never looked back winning 25-19 (.324) in the second and 25-11 (.367) in convincing fashion in the third set with strong hitting percentages for the straight sets win.

Anita Sengara had another big match with 22 kills and Stella Chung was solid with 15 kills, hitting .379. Katherine Chen dished out 27 assists and Ada Cao had eight aces in the home win.
