NYU Downs Bearcats in Thanksgiving Eve Contest

The women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season against NYU, 103-50, on Wednesday afternoon at the Hunter College Sportsplex in uptown New York City.

The host Violets established the momentum early leading 25-9 after the first quarter en route to their fifth win of the season. They shot 60 percent (23-for-38) after two quarters.

Daniela Zirpolo led the visiting Bearcats with 15 points and Melinda Spahiu had 10 points and five steals. 

Janean Cuffee led the Violets from the United Athletic Association (UAA) with 16 points. 

The Bearcats will quickly resume action after the Holiday Weekend with a Monday, December 2 contest at New Jersey City University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
