Softball Sweeps DH in Brooklyn

The softball team defeated the Brooklyn College Bulldogs in both games of a doubleheader played today in Brooklyn (9-1, 16-6).

The Bearcats came out swinging in the first game, scoring five runs in the first inning. Kaitlyn Rivera got things started when she singled to drive in Victoria Kisling and Gabrielle Huezo.

Two batters later, Darine Mata singled to bring home Rivera. Jooyoung Park then scored on a Daniela Lopez RBI groundout, with Mata eventually crossing home on a wild pitch.

The Bearcats tacked on runs in the third and fourth innings to secure the conference win in five innings.

Kisling pitched the complete game, allowing just one run and one hit, while striking out nine batters.

The Bearcat offense was even better in the second game. The team scored in every inning and accumulated 15 hits as they routed the Bulldogs.

Kisling starred on the mound and at the plate. The sophomore had three hits and three RBIs, while also pitching the complete game and picking up her fourth win of the season.

Mata had a big game at the plate with three hits and two RBIs.

The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, April 23 in a home doubleheader against St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Bearcat Appreciation Day.

The first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Randall's Island Field #15.
