Softball's Julia Cuttone Named Newcomer of the Year

5/14/2020 5:20:00 PM

Julia Cuttone is the recipient of the Baruch College Athletics 2019-20 Newcomer of the Year Award.

Cuttone is a freshman from East Meadow, New York, who is majoring in Journalism.

The softball pitcher has been a very positive contributor to the Athletic Department in many roles from wearing the mascot uniform to being a busy member of SAAC.

On the field, although her season was stopped by the pandemic, Julia has been a positive influence on the softball team as she worked hard to make her intercollegiate debut.

"Julia has been an active Bearcat even prior to her acceptance at Baruch College," said Carrie Thomas, Assistant AD for Academics, Compliance and Eligibility/SWA/SAAC Advisor. "She connected with the softball team. She inquired about clubs and committees. She asked about all of the opportunities at Baruch. In her first year, only one and a half semesters she has done all of the above. Julia is a true Bearcat with grit!"

Julia Cuttone is one of the exciting new undergraduate faces ready to contribute to Baruch Athletics in the coming years.
