Bearcats Overcome 13 Point Third Quarter Deficit to Win at Pratt

The women's basketball team overcame a 13-point third quarter deficit to rally for a 67-60 away win on Monday afternoon in Brooklyn.

Melinda Spahiu led the visiting Bearcats with 22 points and tied a career-high with 11 steals. She scored nine of her 22 points in the fourth quarter where the Bearcats erased a 49-43 deficit with a 22-9 scoring advantage in the final 10 minutes for the win. 

Spahiu also added seven rebounds and three assists. 

Mia Castillo also had another solid all-around game with 15 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, three steals and three blocks. Milly Ye finished with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The Bearcats appeared to be in trouble trailing 41-28 with 6:49 left in the third quarter, but they took control down the stretch when it counted the most for the impressive road win that begins a busy week with CUNYAC home games scheduled for Wednesday against Lehman and Saturday against John Jay. 

Allison Altamirano knocked down a jumper with 16 seconds left for a 67-60 lead that stood as the final score.

Natalie Graf led the Cannoners with 20 points in the home loss.
