Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bearcats Cruise Past Cedar Crest (74-53) at Rutgers-Newark Tip-Off Classic

The women's basketball team is off to a 3-0 start following a 74-53 win against Cedar Crest College on Sunday afternoon at the Rutgers-Newark Tip-Off Classic in Newark, New Jersey.

The contest was tied early 19-19 in the second period, but the Bearcats finished strong to enter halftime leading 31-24. They carried the momentum into the third period and never looked back leading 56-30 with under four minutes left.

They finished shooting nearly 60 percent in the third period to carry them to the victory.

Defense was also a factor as the Bearcats took advantage of 20 turnovers by Cedar Crest to score 30 points.

Rookie D'Andre McRae scored a career-high 20 points and established a new career-high in rebounds wih 18.

Mia Castillo had a double-double with 16 points and tied a career-high with 12 assists. 
 
Paige Traynor also has a big afternoon with 15 points in the neutral site win at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. contest at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in King's Point, New York.
