Softball Travels to New Jersey City to Play Two Against Gothic Knights

The softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon.

The visiting Bearcats lost both contests by the same score of 3-1 in a very competitive doubleheader against an opponent from the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

The Bearcats will quickly return to the field with a doubleheader on Sunday morning against St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn. The non-conference doubleheader will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be played at Lenape Playground Park in Brooklyn (3802 Avenue U #5108, Brooklyn, NY 11234).  

DOUBLEHEADER HIGHLIGHTS

Game 1

* The game was scoreless during the first five innings, but the Gothic Knights took the lead with three runs in the sixth.

* Julia Cuttone smacked a double in the seventh and later advanced to third base on a ground out. Bridget Campanelli then hit an RBI single up the middle to plate Cuttone for the lone run.

* Carly Quint pitched six solid innings, allowing six hits, only one earned run, and struck out five with one walk.

Game 2

* The Bearcats took a quick 1-0 lead in their first at-bat.

* With two outs,Quint singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Campanelli brought her home with an RBI double for the lone run.

* Campanelli finished batting 2-for-3 with an RBI double.

* Quint, Cuttone, Jessica Davis each had a single.

* Amber Rivera and Megan Bell each had a walk.
