Bearcats Fall to #4 Christopher Newport in NCAA First Round

The men's basketball team lost 88-50 to No. 4 Christopher Newport University on Friday night in Newport News, Virginia.

The first round hosts from the Coast to Coast Conference (CAC) scored the first 17 points to advance to play Susquehanna University in the second round on Saturday.

The Bearcats overcame the rough start to cut the score to 32-23 with 5:16 left in the first half, but Christopher Newport scored 14 straight points to end the first half.

Jehmehl Fair was tops with 14 points and eight rebounds. Seniors Michael Richards had 11 and Adnan Bajrami 10 to round out the Bearcat double-figure scorers. 

Trey Barber led the hosts with 17 points. CNU attempted 39 threes in the post-season home win.
