Softball Falls to Westfield State (Mass.)

The softball traveled to Westfield, Massachusetts to take on Westfield State in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday.

The Bearcats suffered two tough losses with scores of 9-1 and a high-scoring 20-8.

The Bearcats will return hoem for a pivotal point of their schedulew with CUNYAC doubleheaders on tap this week against John Jay, York, and Brooklyn.

HIGHLIGHTS

Game 1

* Bridget Campanelli scored the visiting Bearcats lone run with a homer to left field in the sixth inning.

* Megan Bell had a single and a stolen base.  

*Mircelis Paredes had the team's third hit with a single down thr right field line in the second inning.

* Westfield State scored six runs in the first two innings to set the tone early in the opening game one win. 

Game 2

"The Bearcats' bats erupted in the second game with eight runs. They had a run in the second, five in the third, and two in the fifth inning. 

* The team has now scored eight or more runs in 10 different games this season.

* Jordyn Schwartz (2-for-3, 2 runs) and Paredes (2-for-3, 4 RBI) each had two hits. Paredes had a bases-clearing double in the third inning to plate Schwartz, Campanelli, and Carly Quint.

* Bell doubled down the left field line in the fourth inning.

* Quint had a sacrifice fly RBI and an RBI single in the game.

* Bell and Emelia Zakoscielny scored two runs each.

* The Bearcats rallied back to get as close as 11-8 before the home team had another big inning to clinch the home win.
