Baseball Drops Tough Contest at USMMA, Win Streak Stopped at Nine

The baseball team lost a high-scoring 11-8 contest at the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday afternoon at King's Point, New York.

The hosts from the Skyline Conference jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Bearcats scored once in the fourth and had a big seven-run fifth inning to jump ahead 8-3.

The Mariners would score the final eight runs, which included taking the lead with four runs in the bottom of the eighth.

The loss ends the Bearcats' nine-game winning streak.

HIGHLIGHTS

* Lucius Paradiso was tops at the plate batting 3-for-4 with two doubles.

* Steven Patterson batted 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored.

* Pedro Tejada, Jr. smacked a two run homer in the fifth inning.
