Bearcats Start Strong, Hold Off Bears to Win 16-11 for 10th Win in 11 Games

The baseball team won for the 10th time in their last 11 games with a 16-11 non-conference win over the Bears of St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon.

The visiting Bearcats exploded for 12 runs early and held off a late push by the Bears from the Skyline Conference for the 16-11 win in a game played at Kingsborough Community College.

The Bearcats scored 14 runs on 15 hits and stretched their impressive streak of games with eight runs or more to nine in a row. 

HIGHLIGHTS

* Robert Wakely had a monster game batting 4-for-5 with a triple, double, two RBI and two runs scored.

* Joseph Cocozza kept his hot bat alive batting 3-for-5 with an inside the park grand slam in the second inning to finish with five RBI and two runs scored.

* Michael Paray batted 3-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored. He smacked an RBI single in the second inning and a two-run single in the third.

* Thomas Drouin had an inside the park solo homer to finish batting 2-for-5. He now leads the team with three homers.

* Seven different Bearcats had at least two hits in the win.

* Natanael Castillo earned the win in relief striking out five in 3.1 innings. Robert Fischer recorded eight strikeouts in just 4.2 innings.
